Ugh, its 3:30am and I'm still wide awake! We're meant to be getting up early and heading for the beach. Not sure if I'll make it. Perhaps if I'm not driving..... I love snoozing on the beach! It will be our 1st beach day for the summer and I can't wait. Mr S is doing a training ocean swim with a group he likes to swim with, eldest and youngest offspring will have a surf and middle offspring will stay home as she doesn't like the beach.
I've been flat out getting things finished off at work for the year but have finished and will be on holidays for a few weeks, it should be lovely. I'm going to catch up with girlfriends and daughters, do some craft and sewing, get to the beach as often as I can and read the stack of library books I have sitting on the piano.
We have had 3 functions in a row this week and its been very enjoyable. Youngest had her school presentation night and did extremely well receiving quite a few awards but not Dux as she has the previous 2 years. Apparently she missed out by 4 marks. She was quite pleased about that as she didn't want to get it again as she didn't want the notoriety and comments from her peers. I'm hoping she gets over that next year, not that we care if she gets it or not, I just like to see her doing her best and having a relatively good attitude and that had really slipped this year.
I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year. We are helping out at a community/church lunch for disadvantaged families, it should be a ot of fun. Our family are organising the children's activities.
Eyelids are drooping so I'm off to bed, night all!

Hi Sunshine!
How fun, the beach!
Glad you can get some time off!!!!
Hi LW,
we did make it to the beach, it was wonderful. Mr S missed his training swim because we got up a bit too late, but the sun was shining the breeze was gentle and the surf was a bit crazy. We mostly swam in the tide pool, the surf was so crazy there was a good swell in the pool!
We all got a bit sunburnt in a few patches that were missed during the 2nd application of sunblock, but it was worth it for the sense of relaxation.
I saw a movie last week called "On A Clear Day" with Brenda Blethyn. It was a Scottish film about a working class man and his family, who decides to swim the English channel because other events in his life have gone crappy. I guess I'm just reminded of that because of your athletic husband and your beach story. How old is he? I want some inspiration!
It's currently 27 degrees outside and my car is stuck at the curb in a shelf of ice. Thank goodness for a permissable, easy-going boss!
The movie sounds very interesting, I'll have to see if I can get a copy for Mr S, one of his long term goals is to swim the channel.
He is 40, and was of fairly average build and fitness level to start with so I'm sure you could do it if you wanted to.
He loves swimming and trains at an indoor pool/gym most of the time and occasionally with the group on the coast. He probably does 3-4 long distance swims a year, some ocean and some in lakes.
You should go for it if you're interested. The weather sounds a little formidable though!
Its been raining off and on since Sunday, its very welcome after the years of drought we have had.
Eheheh! No, I didn't want inspiration to cross the English Channel! I just want inspiration to become more fit. I live in NYC -- I'm not going all the way to England to swim! :D
LOL, me neither.I thought you were thinking about taking up swimming, not in England. Do you swim? I think you just have to find something you enjoy. I'm a fairly sedentry person and I enjoy the comfort of the Gym. I love pilates and I don't mind treadmills etc because I can watch tv while I do it.
I was surprised to get your reply, what time is it there?

I answered you when I woke up this morning. It was about a quarter after 7 in the AM, but that's what I do every AM. It's like turning on the radio to check current events and the weather, except I go to blogs instead. Then I run out of the house to work. And at work, like now, I come back to check on replies or whatnot. At the time I hit the Send button, it will be 12:23PM.
I do swim, but it's been a while since I belonged to a gym that has a pool. It would be ideal to live in a place with its own pool.
There's something about an athletic husband who swims that I find awesome. I'm sure I have more of a crush about it than you do, LOL. But as I've detailed elsewhere, the figure of a strong man caring for his wife and family is the utmost inspiration in my mind. :-)
No I've got a bit of a crush on him myself. He gets more gorgeous as he gets older.... either that or my eyesight is fading!
Truly we seem to be in a beautiful "summer" season with our relationship. Its wonderful after the stormy, turbulent years we've had.
He is a very protective, look after us kind of guy. The best way he has looked after us is by being faithful and sticking around to work things out when the going was tough.
Well, I'll say good morning now as thats what it will be when you read this. Have a great day Alan : )
Good morning! :-)
Thanks, Sunshine--I love what you said there. Here's to the Gorgeous Forties! Cheers!
Hey, Happy Valentine's Day! Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope things are good and that you'll enjoy (or are already enjoying, or already enjoyed) your gorgeous husband on love day. I got you some virtual flowers over at my place too, just because...
